Assistant Coach
Biography:
My running started as a Junior at North Quincy High School in Massachusetts and continued while I attended Northeastern University. While there, I ran track and Cross Country, serving as Captain my Senior year. During the next couple years I ran the roads which I stopped running when I was in my late 20’s and didn’t resume it again until 1991 when I retired after a 30 year career in Telecommunications.
In 1999 I started coaching a group of 11-12 year old girls to compete each December in the National Junior Olympics Cross Country Championships. In 2010 I came to Bishop Guertin as a volunteer coach where many of my younger runners have attended.
During my road racing period, I have set 38 individual NH age records at distances from 5k to ½ marathon. In 1997, I started competing in Masters Track and Field, where I have won a total of 22 National Championships at distances from 800 meters to 10k as well as 3 National XC Championships. In 2011, I participated in the World Masters Championship, where I placed 3rd in the 800 and 5th in the 1500. I am currently ranked 6th in the world at 800 meters for my age group (85-89).
