Leslie Why
Head Coach
Girls Varsity Lacrosse
Leslie comes to Bishop Guertin with a diverse coaching and personal resume. Leslie has coached both Field Hockey and Lacrosse at BG over the last 5 years. Additionally, she coaches for NH Tomahawks and previously for Granite State Elite, and Amherst Club Lacrosse (ALC). In addition to coaching, she served on the ALC Board to help further support and develop the sport.
Leslie graduated from Bucknell University in 1992 finishing out her college playing career as a 4x All Patriot League starter, Captain, Bucknell points record holder, and All American; Post college she went to the Czech Republic to teach and coach, finding herself as the youngest coach in World Cup history as she led the first Czech National Women’s Lacrosse Squad in the 1993 Women’s World Cup in Edinborough, Scotland. Leslie stayed on in the UK, playing for North England and coaching in schools & universities for the English Lacrosse Union, returning to the US in 1994.
Leslie has completed several marathons, Ironman Mont Tremblant and was an Olympic Torchbearer for the 2002 Salt Lake Winter Olympics. She holds degrees in English and Education from Bucknell University as well as a Masters in Business Administration from Arizona State University. She spent her sales career with IBM and Cisco Systems, retiring in 2002 to focus on raising her daughters and to pursue work as a Nutritionist and a Coach.
