In posting the top-10 finish at the year’s final cross country event, Giardina earned All-America honors for the 2024 season, his final year in a BG uniform.

Giardina finished the 5K course in 15:44.1, moving up three spots in the final mile to help secure seven points for the Northeast Team.
The Midwest was the team atop the podium at the race’s conclusion with 31 points, with Giardina and his Northeast group taking second with 50. The West (63) and South (84) the scoring in a field that featured just 40 total runners, cementing this as the premier event on the cross country calendar.
The week before running in southern California, the Cardinals’s standout performer also was on the west coast, competing at the Nike Cross Nationals in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, Dec. 7. In sloppy and muddy rain-soaked conditions on the 5K course at the Glendoveer Golf Course, the senior posted a 41st-place finish in 16:08.1.
The field in suburban Portland featured 198 runners from the across the country competing in the first of two back-to-back national competitions in less-than-ideal conditions.
